This is a picture of one of my shelves. I have only a few books here in New York since most of my books were shipped to my house in Puerto Rico some years ago. Each time I go back, I bring with me one of the books about Mary Magdalene in order to have it with me in my new studio.
I would like to share the titles of the books I love and have carried back with me so far. The last 3 are still in Puerto Rico, not because I love them less. And I am also sharing some titles in my digital shelf.
Reading is how I learn and discover. I treasure books and never want to let them go. And reading is how I started my journey with Mary Magdalene.
These books about Mary Magdalene inspired my first paintings of her, and guided me in learning beyond the traditional Bible stories and interpretations. I am grateful to these authors for their gifts to the world.
As this blog progresses, I will write about each of these books and invite you to leave your own reviews and impressions in the comments or send them to be published here.
St. Mary Magdalene: The Gnostic Tradition of the Holy Bride by Tau Malachi
Magdalene’s Lost Legacy by Margaret Starbird
The Gospel of Mary of Magdala by Karen L. King
The Woman with the Alabaster Jar by Margaret Starbird
Bride in Exile by Margaret Starbird
Painting Mary Magdalene by Tanya Torres
Invoking Mary Magdalene by Siobhan Houston
And I want to add 3 more favorite books, currently in my library in Puerto Rico:
The Meaning of Magdalene by Cynthia Bourgeault
The Secret Magdalene by Ky Longfellow
The Gospel of Mary Magdalene by Jean-Yves Leloup
And one more favorite, from the upper shelf:
Magdalene’s Dance With God: Mary’s Guidance for My Journey and Yours in Discovering Our DIvine Selves by David G. Jones, Ph.D.
And my favorite books my digital bookshelf:
Love Letters from Mary Magdalene: The Untold Tale of Her Live, Love and Legacy by Dr. Heather Kristian Strang
The O Manuscript: The Seer, the Magdalene, the Grail by Lars Muhl
I look forward to reviewing and sharing these books with you!
