Fun

Mary Magdalene Meditating on Nature by Tanya Torres
Today’s drawing: Mary Magdalene Meditating on Nature

If you do something enough times, it is probable that you will start finding ways to evolve in it. Don’t think I never ask myself “why do I draw almost the same every night?” And then I ask, “how can I draw the same but different?” And other nights I’m just grateful to draw the same because there’s just not enough energy in me for invention.

Sometimes it’s just about finding a way to add a little fun to the adventure. Fun is something I’m not an expert at. What is fun to me is not what most people would find fun. But I hope the little elements in this drawing will make someone smile!

And even if we all have different concepts of fun, anything that makes us naturally pause, smile, laugh, be in the moment, and give us that joyful surprise of finding ourselves having fun unexpectedly, is worth pursuing.

I wonder what Mary Magdalene would think about the idea of fun. It seems some of the apostles gave her a hard time, not believing that Jesus could trust wisdom words to her, and that must not have been much fun. But maybe walking with Jesus and witnessing his miracles, learning deep concepts and lessons, and being with kindred souls who were living the same experience was a lot more fun than living enclosed and restricted by traditional society.

So instead of the traditional tears, tonight I drew her flowers and leaves, little spirals, and little water waves. All I missed was the fire in her heart. But that’s ok. The heart always glows when you are having fun.
