A Year With Mary Magdalene: The Flower of Life
It is the beginning of a new year, a year with Mary Magdalene. It is a year for creation and expansion, a year in which the symbol of the Flower of Life becomes a guiding principle.
When I was given Magdalene.org by Lesa Bellevie, I was enveloped in my art/spiritual practice of painting Mary Magdalene. But 7 years ago, a process of destruction and rebirth began in my life, and it is only now that I am able to breathe and look ahead to the future. With great faith and an immense desire to evolve and return with a clear mind, I start over.
To begin this new year, I want to restate my commitment to celebrating Mary Magdalene in art, word, music and thought by sharing a new painting, Mary Magdalene: The Flower of Life. I had finished and given this painting a tentative title that wasn’t quite right. But then I stared learning about the symbol called The Flower of Life, an ancient symbol that represents creation. It made me think of the flower that the Magdalene holds in her hand near her heart, and of my intention of making 2025 a year of creation, both for myself and for anyone who wants to join me.
The Flower of Life represents the cycle of creation from beginning to end. But as a pattern without beginning or end, to me it represents the infinite potential that emerges through our creativity. Like a flower, we contain the seeds of regeneration. When defeated or destroyed, we can always return to our center, and expand once again to reach for divine wisdom, from within divine wisdom. Our potential is infinite, when we acknowledge our will to evolve.
It is my intention to publish here every day this year as an acknowledgement of. My own will to evolve and grow. I will be inviting Mary Magdalene’s wisdom to guide me. I invite artists, poets, writers, thinkers to contribute. The only rule is to follow the principles of love, respect and acceptance that guide this blog and the writings of the people with whom I have had to opportunity to collaborate. For myself, I will be sharing new art, processes, and thoughts that inspired me or may be inspiring to kindred souls.
I look forward to a beautiful, colorful, wise and CREATIVE 2025!
