Drawing Mary Magdalene

The act of drawing is both thinking and a way to stop thinking. Drawing a Mary Magdalene has become so natural for me that I don’t have to think too much to make a drawing.

Tonight, I had to connect with family and friends, but I also had to draw, so I did both at the same time. Here is today’s drawing:

Drawing is probably not the best way to disconnect for everyone. (Although I do believe anyone can learn how to draw and enjoy it.) But we all have something that we can do that helps us disconnect. And this is the same principle of meditation. Or prayer.

Essentially, when I am drawing, I am praying. I am able to concentrate on an idea, or a wish, or a thought, or give my full attention to someone as I talk on the phone. I have used drawing and watercolor painting to survive zoom meetings during the pandemic. All who had jobs a the time know how hard that was.

So I am sending you a little prayer of hope and of love with this Magdalene drawing created while talking to loved ones. I look forward to making many more.
