Purple Butterfly

A week of art is just what my soul needed.
To be in my studio, barefoot, thinking about philosophy of life, spirituality and art, and just creating all day is the best medicine. I take little breaks to eat or rest, although today, my art muscles were ready to work non-stop. I like to feel this kind of tired at the end of the day. I’m creating the template of my future.
I had worked on several images of Mary Magdalene in preparation for a new series of paintings and maybe a coloring book, so I’ve been ready to go since 2023. But at the time, I didn’t have a studio, or a permanent place to live, so I couldn’t really continue beyond a line drawing. Still, it was great to have something to start, and it’s been really helpful to have drawings ready in order make this a productive week.
For this image, I painted the butterfly because I wanted to set the palette since the beginning. The butterfly is a symbol of rebirth, and purple a color that means spirituality and creativity.
Tomorrow I will go back to the two paintings I already started. They have been drying and should be ready to work on. It will be another beautiful day of freedom and painting Mary Magdalene.
