Strange and ineffable
Drawing is a way to think, to generate ideas and to listen to the muse. Mary Magdalene has been my muse for many years.
Painting is a way to dream, to heal through color, to express without words the thoughts that are not yet born. I’ve been painting Mary Magdalene all these years: the Magdalene of Light and the Dark Magdalene. The “dark” refers to the stories about her that remain obscure, undiscovered. Stories that I attempt to hear in the act of painting.
Drawing and painting are two forms of prayer. One raw, spontaneous, the other composed and structured. Both are meant to open the heart to the ineffable.
To see beyond, we often need a language greater than words. It is then that I write poetry, or poetic prose, with as few words as possible, to seek a greater truth.
And in that truth, a strange beauty glows.
Una sencilla y bella reflexión. Inspiradora. Muchas gracias, querida Tanya
