That Day…

I will draw every day, even on a bad day
Yesterday’s little drawing of Mary Magdalene

There comes a day in any process when the energy falls, and you end up horizontal on your sofa.

Today was that day for me. It could be called a bad day.

After a medical appointment that requires follow-up and a work meeting all the way in Brooklyn, plus all the work pressures in my mind, I realized I couldn’t work any more today to prepare for a big meeting in two days. Then I collapsed, forgetting my promise to write every day…

Fortunately, my website service sent me a message telling me how well I’m doing, effectively reminding me of my promise to myself. I would write a post every day. And I would draw. Even if I only write two sentences and draw a stick figure.

I will compliment this life lesson with some words by Mary Magdalene that I read in Kristian Strang’s book Love Letters from Mary Magdalene:

Some advice from Mary Magdalene.

And that’s exactly what I did. I sat at my art table, opened my iPad, and started writing. I took my step, rinsed, and repeated.

While I would like to think that this process I’m immersing myself in is divinely guided, it won’t work if I don’t do my part. And my part is making myself available for the energy to flow through me.

I didn’t draw today yet, but I will. I also completed other items on my list:

✅ Writing

✅ Meditating

✅ Breathing

✅ Healthy food

[✅ after blog] Drawing

☐Painting

✅ Blog

☐Yoga

✅ Walking

☐Products

✅ Contact a friend

☐Planning

✅ Gratitude

That’s today’s thought. How do we overcome exhaustion, mental barriers, and self-sabotage to move toward our envisioned future? By taking that step we identify as essential, and taking it once again tomorrow, and the day after, until it’s so natural we don’t have to think or be reminded.

I’m probably going back to the sofa after I draw a stick figure, but that’s okay. By then, I will have taken the step, rinsed, and repeated.
