What is Life if You Can’t Have Fun?

Once I touch watercolors, I find it hard to stop. These pearlescent watercolors look so beautiful on black paper, and it’s so nice to simply apply paint without much thinking of a final result. Today, like yesterday, I decided to paint with these watercolors because during the week it’s very challenging to set up for oil paint. Then the cleanup. I enjoy it much more when I have at least 3 hours to work on a painting. Sooner or later I will have to complete my new Magdalene paintings using oils, but yesterday I painted with the watercolors because I was just too tired for anything else, and today… I couldn’t resist.
Art materials are the toys of both kids and artists.
And what is life if you can’t have fun?
Sometimes work becomes too serious. We become obsessed with what we are working on, or what we want to accomplish. We forget the main reason that made us start, which is that at some point we had fun with it.
If I can’t paint seriously every day, they I will paint for fun. Maybe that’s been the goal all along…
